“WEBINAR: Addiction as an Adaptive Intelligence”

A 90-minute live session for professionals ready to see addiction through a new lens.

What if addiction isn’t a disorder, or broken brain, or chronic relapsing disease?

What if it’s something far more intelligent?

Most models of addiction treatment - even the more modern, trauma-informed ones - still start from the same place: something’s wrong, and it needs fixing. But Infinite Recovery doesn’t ask how to fix addiction. It asks: what if addiction is a brilliant response to something deeper?

This webinar is for professionals who know, deep down, that something’s missing from the way we work with addiction. Whether you’re a therapist, coach, recovery worker, or lived experience practitioner - this is an invitation to go further.

What We’ll Explore

🔸Addiction as an Intelligent Response
Addiction is not a mistake. It’s the body and mind doing the best they can to survive unbearable disconnection.Understanding this changes everything - from how we meet clients to how they meet themselves.
🔸Why Trauma Drives the Cycle
Most people aren’t addicted to a substance - they’re addicted to not feeling. Trauma fragments the self, and addiction becomes a way to manage the chaos. Until we meet the root, recovery becomes just another performance.
🔸How Standard Treatment Models Reinforce Suffering
We’ll explore how well-meaning systems - focused on abstinence, compliance, or diagnosis - often pathologise normal human responses. These approaches overlook the intelligent survival mechanisms at play, and in doing so, they deepen shame and disconnection.
🔸The Practitioner Is the Intervention
You are the work - not your method, not your training. Healing starts with your presence, not your protocol. Often, the identity of the practitioner is both the hidden barrier and the hidden medicine.
🔸Seeing Through Pathology
This isn’t about adding a new method - it’s about seeing through the old lens. Pathology is like the triangle illusion: it looks real, but it isn’t there. Freedom isn’t waiting on the other side of recovery - it’s available now. When we stop trying to fix the pain, we can finally meet the person inside it.
🔸What Remains Beneath Trauma
Beneath trauma, there’s something untouched. Self-energy - clarity, calm, compassion - isn’t something we need to build. It’s what we return to when we stop running. This understanding restores hope, not as a technique, but as truth.

This is for you if…

  • You are open to learning something new

  • You’re repeating the same cycles with clients

  • You see relapse as more than ‘non-compliance’

  • You’re tired of diagnosing, managing, or motivating people

  • You want to work from clarity, humility and humanity - not control

  • You really want to help people heal beyond coping
